Infant Options

• Ages 6 weeks - 12 months
• Monday-Friday 7:30 am - 5:30 pm
• Full-Time Infant Care Tuition Program

The care your child receives during their first 12 months will impact their development into the future. Our infant care provides a comprehensive and developmentally appropriate curriculum to aid each child in growing to their maximum potential. Our infant classrooms provide your child a place to play, learn, discover and grow.

Our classrooms offer individualized schedules and curriculum where children feel safe and secure. Each child has a primary caregiver to ensure that they receive individualized and consistent attention. Our staff is trained to encourage and guide infants in exploring objects and surroundings as well as expressing themselves.

Caregivers will have the opportunity to participate in conferences multiple times a year, and families can reach out to their child's teacher any time for updates on how they are adapting to the classroom.

Due to high-demand families must enroll for 5 days a week for our infant program for a full day, 7:30 am - 5:30 pm

Toddler Options

• Ages 1-3 years old
• Monday-Friday 7:30 am - 5:30 pm
• Full-Time Young Toddlers Tuition Program
• Full-Time Older Toddlers Tuition Program

Our toddler program is designed to guide each child through their transition from the sensory motor world to an increasingly social world and the onset of symbolic thinking. Nurturing and supporting social emotional development is one of our most important jobs.

Our classroom environment prepares children for academic excellence, allowing for child-choice and self directed play, small groups, brief circle-times with the whole group, reflection and documentation of learning experiences and supportive teaching. Teachers foster trust in each child by interacting warmly, providing a consistent, well balanced daily routine, modeling and guiding behavior and providing individualized attention and opportunities to socialize with peers.

Three (3) Year Old Preschool Options

Sunshine Club

• Ages 3 to 4 years
• Tuesday/Thursday 8:30 am - 12 pm
• Monday/Wednesday/Friday 8:30 am - 12 pm
• Tuition Program

Sunshine Club is a program designed to promote learning and socialization skills in a relaxed environment. Children are encouraged to explore language arts, science, fine arts, and large and small motor activities in concrete hands-on ways.

3-Year Old Preschool

• Ages 3-4 years
• Full-Day: Monday-Friday 7:30 am - 5:30 pm
• Tuition Program

Our hands-on curriculum follows the State of Michigan Early Childhood Standards of Quality. The curriculum is devoted to all areas of development including physical, cognitive (including math and science), language/literacy/communication, interpersonal skills and relationships, creative arts, dramatic play, and construction.

We recognize that each child grows and develops at their own rate of speed. Our program provides opportunities for each child to explore and utilize self-selection activities and develop problem solving skills and, we support each child’s natural inclination to learn.

Four (4) Year Old Preschool Options

Our hands-on curriculum follows the State of Michigan Early Childhood Standards of Quality. The curriculum is devoted to all areas of development including physical, cognitive (including math and science), language/literacy/communication, interpersonal skills and relationships, creative arts, dramatic play, and construction.

We recognize that each child grows and develops at their own rate of speed. Our program provides opportunities for each child to explore and utilize self-selection activities and develop problem solving skills and, we support each child’s natural inclination to learn. The Building Blocks program is also coordinated with the Kindergarten curriculum to ensure that each child is prepared for years to come.

Pre-K for All (GSRP/Free Preschool)

• Ages 4 to 5 years
• Full-Day: Monday-Thursday 8:30 am - 3:30 pm
• Half-Day: Mondays-Thursdays 8:30 am - 12 pm
• Before and After Care available
• Grant-Funded Free Program
• Student must be 4 by September 1st of the current school year
• Students must attend between 4-5 days a week

Pre-K for All is a state funded program also known as the Free Preschool Program and follows the GSRP regulations. Pre-K for All is designed to prepare students for kindergarten. It offers children the opportunity to participate in activities designed to enhance the whole child. A carefully designed curriculum emphasizes social, emotional, physical, language and intellectual growth. The program will also provide many pre-reading and pre-writing activities.

Pre-K for All (GSRP) is an application-based program and we encourage all our BBB families to apply with the State of Michigan.

Important Steps to Fill Out the GSRP Application

• As you fill out the GSRP application, be sure to mark on the first question that you do have a specific preschool you would like to apply for.
  • Select Oak Park as the city.
  • Select Avery Elementary School-Berkley Building Blocks
  • After you complete your application a care coordinator will contact you from Oakland County if there is any additional information that is needed.  
  • Ms. Jillian, our BBB Grant Coordinator, will schedule a meeting with you to look at options for 4 year old preschool. 
  • We will begin offering GSRP spaces in our program in February and March.

Early Intervention

• Ages birth - 3 years
• Free Program

Berkley Schools is proud to provide Early On and Early Intervention services to children birth to three years old and their families based on eligibility due to a developmental delay or established condition. Early On and Early Intervention services are provided within the child's natural environment through a coaching model. Learn more by visiting the Early On Website.

Early On's motto is "Don't worry. But don't wait." If you are interested in an evaluation please visit, the Early On website and complete a referral form.

Early Childhood Special Education

• Ages 2.5-6 years
• Free Program

Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) is a preschool program for children ages 2.5-6 years old who have special needs. Children may qualify for services including Speech & Language, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and School Social Work. Children have opportunities to experience and participate in a range of activities including daily routines, play, language and literacy, music, fine motor development, sensory activities, media center/technology, gym and playground. With the support of the ECSE Team, children can participate and learn at their level.

Berkley Schools is proud to provide walk-in services in the areas of Speech, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Social Work to children three to five years of age based on eligibility due to a developmental delay or established condition.
